Coronavirus - the future of travel

Coronavirus Update

It’s been a crazy few weeks for the world as we all adjust to what is required to fight this pandemic. From our point of view we have followed government guidelines and are all working from home. We’re still going to release our usual content albeit at a slower rate.

It certainly is a worrying time for the travel industry and most experts say that this is going to take months, if not years, to recover. There are big questions over how many businesses are going to survive plus how people will holiday during and after the crisis.

We’re seeing lots of establishments offering flexible booking and cancellation policies allowing customers to move their holiday dates to some time further into the future where, hopefully, the pandemic will have abated. Only time will tell if this strategy will work.

Based on what we’re seeing, we suspect that there will be a certain amount of nervousness travelling abroad in the future. This will undoubtedly lead to an increase in ‘staycations’ and holidaying within the UK. This will be especially so in our own territory of the South West of the UK, which includes the family-friendly favourites of Cornwall and Devon. We expect these two destinations to do relatively well post-Coronavirus but against a backdrop of a predicted recession and commensurate unemployment. Short and inexpensive breaks could possibly be the antidote to the economic climate.

We hope all our readers stay safe in these uncertain times and the same goes for the various establishments that we’ve featured in our online magazine.
