Family Fun activities at the Watergate Bay Hotel

On our mission to find the very best in family days out across the UK, we recently stumbled across the Watergate Bay Hotel. This gorgeous balconied building is perched on the sea shore, with the sands and rocky shores of Cornwall at its very feet.

If you live in Cornwall or the surrounding area and you are looking for a day out with the kids – could the Watergate Bay Hotel be what you are looking for? We took a closer look at the features, facilities, and family fun activities that can be found here.

The Watergate Bay Hotel – A Little History

Whether you are looking for an active family day trip or whether you are choosing your next staycation – the Watergate Bay Hotel may be the one you have been looking for. This early 19th century hotel was built to be a railway line hotel – but the railway line was never laid. The second world war brought the idea to a close and saw the hotel turned into an RAF officer’s mess hall. It served duty as married quarters for a few years until it was left abandoned in the 60’s.

Several decades later and with more than one refurbishment, the Watergate Bay Hotel is perfectly poised in a great place for a seaside holiday. The surrounding craggy coastline is not only easy on the eye but it promises adventures. Here you will find coves, caves, rock pools and sea monsters… you will also find a marvellous hotel with a whole host of family focused amenities; some of which are listed below.

Amenities and Facilities at the Watergate Bay Hotel

The hotel’s proximity to the beach is a big selling point. Here are two paths down to the beach, providing easy access. You can hire a sand chair from the hotel, and free parking is available in two separate places. Lifeguards are in operation from May to September, just in case.

The beach is approximately two miles long and you will often find water sports there in the summer months. The Shoreline Restaurant, the Beach Hut and the Beach Shop are all within a stone’s throw of each other, ensuring you are fed, watered, and entertained all within one complex[i].

The Watergate Bay Hotel also has:

  • Family suites and village apartments available
  • Room for huge groups and corporate events.
  • There are two family friendly restaurants in the area.
  • Parent’s kitchens are available throughout the hotel.
  • They offer early meal times for little ones.
  • They have a terrace with sun loungers, that looks over the Bay.
  • They have both an indoor and an outdoor pool area. The indoor area contains a shallow end for little ones but they should still be supervised.

So as you can see, you won’t need for much while you are on holiday here!
