With the beach on its doorstep, and set within gardens more suited to the tropics, one of Carbis Bay Hotel’s main draws is its obvious wide sea views. Its contemporary rooms are modern as well as bright, where the sea view rooms make the most of the awe inspiring vista. Rooms are also set up with seating areas where tea and coffee making equipment is provided. Wifi is free to access and the bathrooms are private and well equipped.
There are many other things to recommend Carbis Bay Hotel too – like its award winning Sands restaurant, outdoor swimming pool and terrace that makes the most of that fantastic view. Carbis Bay Beach has been voted one of the most beautiful bays in the world, so it’s quite the backdrop for dinner. Sands lays on an abundance of Cornish food that is largely based on fresh seafood and ingredients from local suppliers. Breakfasts are also served here in a wide ranging buffet. In addition, Sands restaurant also provides an extensive children’s menu as does the Conservatory with yet more stunning views across Carbis Bay. The hotel offers a large, elegant lounge as well as a more traditional bar where guests can enjoy live entertainment. This can range from jazz or a pianist to a magic show suitable for the whole family.
For younger guests, the hotel holds a kids club throughout the school holidays with a whole host of activities on offer. Children of all interests will be entertained with anything from kite flying and football to crafts and treasure hunts. On the beach, watersports obviously take precedence and the whole family can enjoy paddle boarding, sailing or canoeing. The beach is huge too with 25 acres of sand available to build castles, bury family members, or simply sunbathe whilst reading a good book. For the more daring of guests, there is also the option to use a luxury motor yacht for the day for a truly memorable trip across Falmouth Bay. It’s not cheap, but when the weather is with you it is a wonderful way to spend the day.
The family suites are large enough to house up to six people. Rollaway beds are available, however, in larger, standard rooms. There is also the alternative to stay in the estate’s apartments, cottages or beach houses if you prefer holidaying with self catering facilities when the little ones are in tow. This can be a happy compromise with the hotel’s own facilities and gardens to use too.
St Ives is just under 2 miles away, but the hotel is also just a short walk from Carbis Bay Railway Station. Not only that, but the hotel’s location on the water means that there is an abundance of coastal walks to please even the most seasoned of ramblers – West Cornwall prides itself on beaches and the exceptional landscape of The Lizard.
