Family Friendly Editors' Choice Award

Found in the heart of the Somerset countryside, Withial Farm is perfectly situated in the middle of festival country. Every high summer you will find this area of the country suddenly popular as thousands flood from London to seek a country escape. Lower Withial Farm is ideal for any family of four or less looking for the perfect place to get away.

This farm was once a working dairy farm, the residence an actual restored barn. It is one of the most lovingly crafted renovations that we know of, with elegance evident in every unique piece of work. From the solid oak flooring down to the splendid views out over the famous Vale of Avalon – all of it has been designed to make for a dream-like staycation experience for you and your family.

Family Amenities at the Lottisham Barn

The barn is one of two outbuildings included in the farm. This particular building has been restored and renovated to some splendour, leaving you with a sense of awe and wonder, from the moment you walk in the doors.

Some of the family amenities placed here to make your stay so special include:

  • A private hot tub for the exclusive use of you and your family.
  • 2 separate bedrooms, one double and one twin.
  • All the furniture you would expect, inclusive of a dishwasher, Wi-Fi access and a flat-screen TV.
  • Your own private decking area, a private garden to play in, and a BBQ for your cooking desires.

They will also provide your linens, towels and the likes.

Family Activities around Glastonbury

As well as the amenities provided, the farm is situated near Glastonbury. This gives it a wealth of family-friendly activities, all within reach. Some of our favourites include:

  • Glastonbury Tor – visit this world famous set of church ruins come national monument.
  • Visit the ruined remains of Glastonbury Abbey and explore the stones.
  • Visit the Chalice Well (Britain’s oldest holy well) or stop by the Somerset Rural Life Museum to learn about the local area.
  • Explore the vast and beautiful scenery of the Ham Wall Nature Reserve. Hiking, biking and picnicking are all welcome here!
  • Visit the Abbey Park Playground and let the little ones run free!
  • Glastonbury is home to various religious attractions. You can visit the Goddess Temple, St. Margaret’s Chapel, the Magdalene Almshouses, or the White Spring Well and Temple.
  • There is brilliant shopping to be had in Glastonbury, particularly if you have an interest in incense, brightly coloured clothing, and crystals.
  • Visit the nearby town of Wells, where you will find both a Bishop’s Palace to explore and a soft play area to enjoy at the Square that is suitable for the younger kiddies.

When it comes to the local area you will not be disappointed. There is a never-ending list of things to do, most of which is child friendly. What we would caution is that you remember to avoid the festival if you want to book a quiet break away.
